Recommended Plasma Cutters

All of the cutters on this list are low frequency start. They also have a CNC port that will allow you to start the torch remotely and read the voltage of the arc for running a torch height controller

These functions are necessary for the plasma cutter to be compatable with the JD's Garage Plasma cutter table.


LOTOS LTP5500D CNC Get It Here

The best plasma cutter out there for the DIY plasma table. Not only is it affordable but its reliability is very good as well. This is the cutter we have been heavily using for 2 years cutting metal from 20ga (0.9mm") all the way to 1/2" (13mm) without issue.

The big brother of the LOTOS LTP550D CNC. This machine can do everything its little brother can do and more. It can cut up to 1" (25mm) rather than the max of 3/5" (16mm) of the previous machine. One thing to note is it's 220V only. It is not a dual voltage machine like its little brother.

Probably the second most popular option when it comes to the JD's Garage Plasma Table. Its a dual voltage (110V/220V) system that has a little bit more cutting power than the LOTOS LTP5500D CNC.

For those of you that may already have this cutter from Harbor Freight you're in luck because you won't have to get another unit. We do not however recommed the 45 amp version of this model as they decided not to include a cnc port on it.

If you want the best of the best here it is. Or you may already have a shop with one of these you can use it as well. It has a very good 3 year warranty, as well as expertly written manuals that will make setting this up a breeze. Check you wall outlets first as this machine is 220V only. 


HYPERTHERM POWERMAX 65 SYNC Get It Here


The middle brother of the three Hypertherm plasma cutters we recommend. It can do everything the 45 XP can do. It also comes with with the added bonus of a 25 ft long machine torch that will give you better cuts that using a hand torch.   


HYPERTHERM POWERMAX 85 SYNC Get It Here


The biggest and baddest cutter on this list. With its 85 amp capability it can cut anything that you will be able to get onto yout JD's Garage Plasma Table. Like the 65 SYNC it also comes with a 25ft machine torch.
